MG Motor India has rolled out a new top-spec variant of its Windsor EV, called the Windsor EV Pro, priced at ₹17.50 lakh (ex-showroom). With a larger battery, fresh interior updates, and added safety tech, the Pro variant is aimed at buyers looking for more range and smarter features—without straying too far from the familiar Windsor formula.
Bookings for the first 8,000 units open on May 8, 2025. There’s also a more affordable option under MG’s Battery as a Service (BaaS) plan, where you pay ₹12.50 lakh upfront and rent the battery separately at ₹4.5/km.
What’s New Under the Hood?
The big change here is the battery. MG has equipped the Windsor EV Pro with a 52.9 kWh pack, which gives it a claimed range of 449 km. That’s a significant bump over the regular model. The motor remains the same, producing 134 bhp and 200 Nm, but the extra range makes it better suited for longer commutes and weekend trips.
Charging times are decent:
- Fast charging (60 kW DC): 20–80% in about 50 minutes
- Slow charging (7.4 kW AC): Full charge in nearly 10 hours
Pricing Options: Buy or Subscribe
You can either buy the EV Pro with the battery or go for the BaaS model. Here’s how the pricing looks:
Variant | Price under BaaS Model | Price With Battery |
---|---|---|
Excite | ₹10 lakh | ₹14 lakh |
Exclusive | ₹11 lakh | ₹15.05 lakh |
Essence | ₹12 lakh | ₹16.15 lakh |
Essence Pro (New) | ₹12.50 lakh | ₹17.50 lakh |
This flexible model is great for buyers who want to cut upfront costs or plan to drive fewer kilometers.
New Features: Smarter and Safer
The Windsor Pro introduces Level 2 ADAS—a first for this car. You get safety features like
- Adaptive cruise control
- Lane assist
- Blind spot warning
- Rear cross-traffic alert
- Auto emergency braking
- 360-degree camera
It also supports V2L (vehicle to load) and V2V (vehicle to vehicle) charging. So you can power a laptop, a coffee maker, or even help charge another EV.
Design and Cabin Changes
The outside hasn’t changed much. It still has the split headlights, clean LED bars, and smooth lines. But you now get 18-inch alloy wheels (similar to the MG Hector) and three new color options: Celadon Blue, Glaze Red, and Aurora Silver.
MG has changed the cabin design this time and has adopted a beige theme instead of an all-black interior. This new color combination gives the cabin a more open, light, and premium feel. The seats, roof lining, and pillar trims have also been changed according to this theme, which gives the entire interior a new look.
Boot Space and Practicality
Due to the bigger battery, boot space is slightly reduced in the Pro variant. It now offers 579 L, compared to 604 L in the lower Excite and Exclusive trims. Still, there’s enough space for luggage, groceries, or a weekend getaway.
Scipuz’s Take
The Windsor EV Pro is MG’s most complete electric car yet. Pros: Extended range, ADAS, smart features like V2L/V2V, and a more premium cabin. Cons: No upgrade in performance and slower AC charging.
For buyers who want a smarter, more feature-rich EV with a flexible ownership plan, the Pro ticks all the right boxes—especially with
